The first edition was initiated in 2023 in the context of the Presidency of India of <a href=\"https:\/\/gbc1.net\/index.php\/tag\/g20\/\">#G20<\/a> when India successfully pushed for the inclusion of the African Union (<a href=\"https:\/\/gbc1.net\/index.php\/tag\/au\/\">#AU<\/a>) as a permanent member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/gbc1.net\/index.php\/tag\/g20\/\">#G20<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Indian side was jointly led by Puneet Kundal and Sevala Mude from the East and Southern Africa (E&amp;SA) Division and Central and Western Africa (C&amp;WA) Division of the Ministry of External Affairs of India respectively.  On the other side, the US was represented by Mary Phee, Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Dialogue aims to facilitate the exchange of perspectives on Africa with a view to explore &#8216;bilateral synergies&#8217; to promote developmental projects and programs in Africa in order to promote the socio-economic development of Africa. In particular, the Dialogue has partnered with Africa-focused non-profit organization <a href=\"http:\/\/www.technoserve.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Technoserve<\/a> to enhance <a href=\"https:\/\/gbc1.net\/index.php\/tag\/foodsecurity\/\">#FoodSecurity<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/gbc1.net\/index.php\/tag\/womenempowerment\/\">#WomenEmpowerment<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/gbc1.net\/index.php\/tag\/environmentalsustainability\/\">#EnvironmentalSustainability<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img data-dominant-color=\"7c6658\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" style=\"--dominant-color: #7c6658;\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/gbc1.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/India-US-03-jpg.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"not-transparent wp-image-11513\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gbc1.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/India-US-03-jpg.webp 600w, https:\/\/gbc1.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/India-US-03-300x200.webp 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Formerly, India and US have partnered in Africa in various sectors, namely, agriculture, education, energy, and health. One success story is the <strong>Feed the Future <\/strong>India-Africa Innovation Transfer Platform<strong> <\/strong>&#8212; formally launched in 2016 &#8212; which aims to disseminate soil and water management techniques in East Africa while facing the challenges of <a href=\"https:\/\/gbc1.net\/index.php\/tag\/climatechange\/\">#ClimateChange<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Dialogue hopes to leverage the respective strengths of India and the US in order to contribute to the goals which are in line with the AU <a href=\"https:\/\/gbc1.net\/index.php\/tag\/agenda2063\/\">#Agenda2063<\/a>. Both India and USA recognize the growing importance of Africa on the world stage and this Dialogue highlights the commitment of both countries to &#8216;engage meaningfully&#8217; with the emerging continent.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2nd India-US Dialogue on Africa took place in Washington DC from 14 to 15 May 2024.
