In addition to China, the EU, USA, UAE, and India also entertain significant trade relations with Africa.

On the investment front, China reports that its #ODI into Africa reached USD 40 billion in 2023. In line with current trends, the investment projects focus on the mining, agricultural, and renewable energy sectors.

In 2024, China registered a record trade surplus of nearly USD one trillion with the rest of the world, clocking exports worth USD 3.58 trillion and imports of USD 2.59 trillion. Thus, Africa’s weight in the trade mix of China is relatively small at 5%, but is expected to get a boost as certain regions ponder higher tariffs on Chinese imports. Furthermore, China will hold the 4th China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo in 2025 (#CAETE2025), which is expected to impart an impulse to China-Africa trade.

Based on data released by the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) at the beginning of 2025, Africa-China trade

[249
51,135,822,68,542,170,316,33,322

China-Africa Trade Reaches $296B in 2024, Representing 5% Annual Increase

{"@context":"https://schema.org","@graph":[{"@type":"Article","@id":"https://gbc1.net/index.php/2025/01/15/china-africa-trade-reaches-296b-in-2024-representing-5-annual-increase/#article","isPartOf":{"@id":"https://gbc1.net/index.php/2025/01/15/china-africa-trade-reaches-296b-in-2024-representing-5-annual-increase/"},"author":{"name":"gbc","@id":"https://gbc1.net/#/schema/person/cab6d6e84e5294af65e6aa76c5752fad"},"headline":"China-Africa Trade Reaches $296B in 2024, Representing 5% Annual Increase","datePublished":"2025-01-15T10:55:02+00:00","dateModified":"2026-04-01T05:53:05+00:00","mainEntityOfPage":{"@id":"https://gbc1.net/index.php/2025/01/15/china-africa-trade-reaches-296b-in-2024-representing-5-annual-increase/"},"wordCount":513,"publisher":{"@id":"https://gbc1.net/#organization"},"keywords":["AU","CAETE","CAETE2025","FOCAC","FOCAC2024","GlobalSouth","LDC","LVA","ODI"],"articleSection":["Trade &
