As figures are being tallied, it is projected that copper exports will exceed 3 million tonnes in 2024, thus consolidating DRC&#8217;s 2nd position globally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table aligncenter is-style-stripes\"><table><thead><tr><th>Rank<\/th><th>Country<\/th><th class=\"has-text-align-right\" data-align=\"right\">Cu Export <br>MT<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>1<\/td><td>Chile<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-right\" data-align=\"right\">5.0<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>2<\/td><td>DR Congo<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-right\" data-align=\"right\">3.0<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>3<\/td><td>Peru<\/td><td class=\"has-text-align-right\" data-align=\"right\">2.5<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Copper Exports by Country in 2024<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on data compiled so far by the <a href=\"http:\/\/mines.gouv.cd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DRC Ministry of Mines<\/a>, the country exported  2.35 million tonnes of copper for the first three quarters of 2024, representing a 17%  rise compared to the corresponding period in 2023. To export the copper, several routes are possible: westwards to the Atlantic Ocean via the <a href=\"https:\/\/gbc1.net\/index.php\/tag\/lobitocorridor\/\">#LobitoCorridor<\/a> or eastwards to the Indian Ocean via <a href=\"https:\/\/gbc1.net\/index.php\/tag\/tazara\/\">#TAZARA<\/a>. Traditionally, the copper was also shipped out of South Africa via the North-South Corridor, after transiting through Zambia and Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Annually, copper mining brings nearly USD 5 billion in revenues to the state coffers.
