Four East African states — Djibouti, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Uganda (DESSU) — signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the DESSU Corridor Authority. As one of the strategic #EconomicCorridors<\/a> in Africa, the DESSU Corridor will enhance regional integration by enhancing the connectivity among the participating countries and contribute to economic growth and regional cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Signing Ceremony for DESSU Corridor<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n

The signing ceremony took place at the Ethiopian embassy in Djibouti on 27 February 2025. The meeting started on 25 February 2025 and each country was represented by the Ministry of Infrastructure or Transport. The project is supported by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MoU calls for the setting up of the #DESSU<\/a> Corridor Management Authority. The signing of the MoU follows extensive discussions at the Technical Committee level. As a matter of fact, the Technical Committee has started drafting a proposed itinerary for the regional railway line, which will constitute the backbone of the Corridor.<\/p>\n\n\n
