The project is expected to cost FCFA 3 trillion ($5.1B) and will double the national refining capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his speech, Ivoirian Minister of Petroleum Mamadou Sangafowa highlighted the benefits of the partnership and project. Refining oil locally will cut down the import bill and leave more foreign currency in the national reserves, not to mention the numerous jobs that the construction and operation of the refinery will create.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img data-dominant-color=\"867ea6\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" style=\"--dominant-color: #867ea6;\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/gbc1.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/SIR-02w-jpg.webp\" alt=\"Yaatra Ventures and Societe Ivoirienne de Raffinage Sign MoU\" class=\"not-transparent wp-image-21965\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gbc1.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/SIR-02w-jpg.webp 600w, https:\/\/gbc1.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/SIR-02w-300x200.webp 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Yaatra Ventures and Societe Ivoirienne de Raffinage Sign MoU<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>The deal comes only weeks after Minister Sangafowa led a delegation to the US and met with Yaatra. In April, SIR Director of Development revealed a plan for the state-owned enterprise (SOE) to build a new refinery. It will be the second refinery in the country and is designed with a capacity of 170,000 barrels per day (bpd). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other than the refinery deal, Valco Energy also signed an MoU to develop two oil blocks in partnership with the national company PetroCI.
