On that occasion, Kenyan President Ruto took over the baton of the chairship from Burudian President Evariste Ndayishimiye, while Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa becomes the Vice Chair of the <a href=\"https:\/\/gbc1.net\/index.php\/tag\/comesa\/\">#COMESA<\/a> Authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The theme of the 24th edition was &#8220;Leveraging <a href=\"https:\/\/gbc1.net\/index.php\/tag\/digitalization\/\">#Digitalization<\/a> to Deepen Regional Value Chains (<a href=\"https:\/\/gbc1.net\/index.php\/tag\/rvc\/\">#RVC<\/a>) for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth&#8221;. In that regard, the Summit adopted the resolution to implement several platforms and instrucments to optimize the costs of trade across COMESA through the Single Window, Online Non-Tariff Barriers System, Electronic Cargo Tracking System, and Electronic Certificate of Origin.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img data-dominant-color=\"948092\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" style=\"--dominant-color: #948092;\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"750\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/gbc1.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/COMESA-03-750x360-1-jpg.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"not-transparent wp-image-27321\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gbc1.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/COMESA-03-750x360-1-jpg.webp 750w, https:\/\/gbc1.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/COMESA-03-750x360-1-300x144.webp 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Family Photo at 24th COMESA Summit 2025<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>In his inaugural speech as incoming Chair of COMESA, President Ruto emphasized the importance of Peace &amp; Security in the region as the basis to achieve socio-economic progress. COMESA state members are combining efforts to link up their IT systems for customs in order to facilitate trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kenya is positioning itself as one of the key gateways into East Africa. As part of this effort, Kenya is planning to implement the Mombasa &#8211; Nairobi &#8211; Naivasha Standard Gauge Railway (<a href=\"https:\/\/gbc1.net\/index.php\/tag\/sgr\/\">#SGR<\/a>) to Malaba near the border with Uganda.
