On 14 January 2026, the Port of Singapore Authority (PSA<\/a>) reported that it processed 44.5 million Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEU) in its domestic ports during 2025, representing an 8.6% increase compared to 2024. Singapore is ranked as the 2nd largest container terminal in the world, behind Shanghai. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

PSA terminals outside Singapore contributed an additional 60.4 million #TEU<\/a>, with a 2% increase. Globally, the combined throughput of domestic and overseas ports reached nearly 105 million TEU, adding nearly 4% growth compared to 2024, despite trade tensions and geopolitical risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Singapore remains the world’s largest refueling station for ships, selling 57 million tonnes of traditional bunkering fuels. Alternative and green marine fuels emerged as a promising future growth direction with an increase from 1.35 million tonnes in 2024 to 1.95 million tonnes in 2025, representing a robust 45% increase year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PSA Chairman Peter Voser underlined the outstanding performance despite ‘persistent geopolitical volatility, trade pressures, technological disruptions and climate shifts.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PSA operates 77 terminals in 45 countries around the world, including inland terminals, involving rail and road #connectivity<\/a>. Its subsidiary Crimson Logic provides intelligent solutions to run ports efficiently. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first phase of the #TuasPort<\/a> started operation in 2022 and exhibits a high degree of automation to make it one of the best-in-class in terms of performance and adoption of green technologies. In February 2025, the Tuas Terminal reached the milestone of 10 million TEU. When completed in 2040, the Tuas port will have an annual handling capacity of 65 million #EU<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
