South Sudan Officially Kicks Off Consultations on its Decennial National Development Plan 2026-2036

On 10 September 2025 in Juba, the South Sudan Minister of Finance and Planning Athian Diing officially unveiled the draft National Development Plan (#NDP) 2026-2036 in the presence of the UN Representative. Speaking at the launch ceremony, Minister Diing underscored that the plan is based on data-driven decision and inclusive socio-economic results, thus marking a ‘pivotal moment’ in the history of South Sudan. The theme of the plan is “Transforming South Sudan: Building Resilience, Prosperous and Inclusive Future.”

“This occassion marks a pivotal moment in our nation’s journey, a step toward a future defined by stability, resilience and sustainable development. Our big agenda is to improve the lives of current and future generations through inclusive, well-coordinated, and result-driven planning and implementation.”

The South Sudan Development Plan (SSDP) will undergo nationwide consultations before finalization. It will also be debated in Parliament to gather views from all parties. South Sudan counts on the support of international partners and development finance institutions (DFI) to carry out its NDP.
