Gabon Performs Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Andem Airport

On 28 March 2025, Gabonese President Brice Nguema officially laid the foundation stone for the new Andem airport, located some 60 km from the capital Libreville. The project is expected to take four years and to be completed by 2030. The cost of Andem airport project is estimated at about FCFA 220 billion ($360M).

The restart of works is occurring nearly two years after the first start was announced two years ago. The Andem airport project was first mentioned fourteen years ago and has taken a long time to really kick off.

Finally, it would appear that Ebomaf is the civil works contractor responsible for construction of the airport. Ebomaf has undertaken similar projects such as the airports of San Pedro and Korhogo in Cote d’Ivoire.

The project is implemented under a Public-Private Partnership (#PPP) model. The new airport will follow the latest international trends and standards. After completion, Andem airport will enhance connectivity in the region and beyond.
