Sailun to Build $1B Tyre Manufacturing Facility in Egypt
On 13 August 2025, Saiun signed an agreement to build a tyre manufacturing facility in the Tianjin-Egypt Development Area (TEDA) in Egypt. Sailun Tyre Group Chairman XIE Xiaohong and TEDA CEO CAO Hui signed the contract. Egypt’s Deputy PM Kamel Al-Wazir and Suez Canal Zone Authority (SCZone witnessed the signing.
The Plant will occupy 350,000 square meters and is designed to produce 3 million semi-steel radial tires and 600,000 all-steel radial tires annually. The construction of the Plant is estimated to take 18 months. On the other hand, TEDA is a demonstration project between Egypt and China to facilitate investments thanks to its one-stop shop service and favorable policies.

Sailun was founded in 2002 and is headquartered in Qingdao. Other than Qingdao, it has production facilities in Dongying, Shenyang and Weifang. Sailun has also gone global with plants in Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Mexico. Furthermore, it has established R&D centers in Qingdao, Toronto, Frankfurt, and Ho Chi Minh. Its combined global production exceeds 27 million all-steel radial tires, 106 million semi-radial tires, and 447,000 tonnes of off-road tires.
Egypt is positioning itself as a hub for automotive manufacturing in the region. It plans to leverage Egypt’s geostrategic location and logistical advantages to embed itself within the global value chain for the automobile industry.
