DR Congo Presents Mining Projects to US Investors as Part of Mineral Deal

Further to the peace pact brokered by the US between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda, the Government of DRC has compiled and forwarded a list of mining projects to Washington for consideration. The project shortlist involves copper-cobalt, lithium, manganese, and gold; it was presented in mid-January 2026.

The US Development Finance Corporation (DFC) signed a Mineral Pact with Gecamines, the Congolese mining state-owned enterprise. The DFC is also financing the #LobitoCorridor to facilitate access to #CriticalMinerals and precious metals such as gold, which hit record prices.
