Egypt Bolsters Bilateral Cooperation on Sidelines of Alamein Africa Forum 2026

On the sidelines of the Alamein Africa Forum 2026, Egypt held several meeting with other African countries to bolster bilateral cooperation. As a result, Egypt signed agreements with South Africa, Equatorial Guinea and Chad. The bilateral meetings took place between the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty and his counterparts.
South Africa

South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Ronald Lamola welcomed the launch of the Egypt-South Africa Business Council as a platform to connect the business communities in the two countries. The inaugural session of the joint business council will coincide with the forthcoming visit of Minister Adbelatty to South Africa. One particular promising area of cooperation is automotive manufacturing: South Africa has the oldest and largest automotive industry in Africa, while Egypt ambitions to become a leader in this sector in the future.
Equatorial Guinea

Equatorial Guinean Foreign Minister Simeon Angue and Abdelatty co-chaired the first session of the joint commission between the two countries. The two countries signed an MoU to boost partnership in agriculture, aquaculture, culture and tourism,
Chad

Abdelatty first congratulated Chad’s Foreign Minister Ahmed Kogori upon his recent appointment. In the presence of the Egyptian Health Minister Khaled Adbel-Ghaffar, the two foreign ministers witnessed the signing of a cooperation MoU between Chad’s Ministry of Health and the Egyptian Drug Authority on the supply and production of pharmaceuticals and medical products. Chad and Egypt are also in discussions about a regional highway linking the two countries via Libya.
Other Bilateral Summits

Egypt’s President El-Sisi also met with several African Presidents. Although no agreement was signed, Egypt and other countries exchanged views on matters of common concern, and explored deepening cooperation in security, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure, and other areas of mutual interest.
Boost Egypt-Africa Ties
The Forum provided an excellent opportunity to expand partnerships between Egypt and other African countries. Before the Forum, Egypt already offered agricultural and irrigation expertise to Guinea. In addition, Egypt also agreed to support the #TVET to Mali.
