Botswana and Qatar Seal $12B Investment Deal
On 21 August 2025, Botswana President Duma Boko announced that Botswana Development Corporation (BDC) and Qatar’s Al Mansour Holdings have singed an investment deal worth USD 12 billion. The deal covers several sectors including agriculture, cybersecurity & defense, energy, mining, tourism, and diamond as Botswana is one of the largest diamond producers in the world.
Al Mansour Holdings is owned by the Qatari royal family and is run by Sheikh Mansour Bin Jabor Bin Jassim Al Thani who arrived in Gaborone with a delegation on Wednesday 20 August 2025.
President Boko underscored that the agreement will contribute to the economic diversification and long-term prosperity of Botswana. His vision is to build a Botswana that is globally competitive and well-prepared for future challenges.
The IMF estimates that this level #FDI could add at least 2% to the annual #GDP growth of the economy in Botswana over the next five years. The agreement with Botswana is one of series of deals that Qatar is concluding around Africa (#QA300B).
