Zimbabwe’s VP Mohadi Commissioned Kasambabezi Border Post

On 24 July 2026, Zimbabwe’s Vice President Mohadi officially commissioned the modernized Kasambabezi Border Post in Binga, Matabeleland North. Minister of Home Affairs Kzembe, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs Moyo, senior government officials, traditional leaders, and local stakeholders took part in the ceremony.

In his speech, VP Mohadi emphasized that the Kasambabezi Border Post is much more than an infrastructure project; it is yet another achievement that demonstrates the Government’s commitment to optimize border management, enhance #connectivity, facilitate trade, and promote inclusive development.

“Today’s event is not only about the commissioning of this new infrastructure, but about restoring dignity and reaffirming Government’s commitment to inclusive development that leaves no one and no place behind… Kasambabezi Border Post serves as a key gateway linking Zimbabwe to Zambia and regional markets. Most importantly, it will stimulate local economic activities, create employment opportunities and support livelihoods in Binga District”

Kasambabezi operates as a One Stop Border Post (#OSBP) and integrates the latest digitalization technology to streamline the movement of people and goods across the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia.

Works kicked off on the Kasambabezi Border Post in October 2025 and finished in May 2026. The financing came from the nearly USD one billion allocation from the Border Infrastructure Package under the National Development Plan’s budget.

The modernization program of Border Posts is part of Phase Two of the National Development Strategy (NDS2) and is aligned with Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030 (#Vision2030ZM).
