On 1st August 2023, Bayer West and Central Africa headquartered in Cote d‘Ivoire inaugurated itself Better Life Farming (BLF) program. The program is part of the vision to achieve “Health for All, Hunger for No-one,” At the initial phase, there are 7 BLF centres in the North, 1 in the North-East and 1 in the East. The #BLF Centre are known locally as MOAYE-Here.

The Better Life Farming is a global initiative of Bayer which seeks to promote innovative and eco-friendly agricultural practices. It assists small farmers to become agripreneurs.

The BLF Centre offers a comprehensive set of solutions for small farmers to upgrade their skills, improve their output and increase their revenue. The #BLF program is already in operation in Latin America, Asia and East Africa; now, it is coming to West Africa.

According to the UN, 80% of food consumed in developing countries is produced by an estimated 550 million smallholders. Therefore, the contribution of small farmers is crucial to achieve #UN #SDG 2 to obliterate hunger.

Studies have highlighted several stumbling blocks to reach #SDG 2 and attain #FoodSecurity, notably access to finance, quality inputs, knowledge of advanced agricultural techniques and access to markets.

The BLF initiative complements the Bayer’s Smallholder Initiative which aims to improve the livelihoods of at least 100 million small farmers by 2030.
