Greenhous International Development Group Chair Zheng Xiangming Delivers Speech

Chair Zheng first invested in the Bright Industrial Park in Ghana in 2011. The industrial park now has more than 70 factories and the Afri Mall which sells mostly products produced in the industrial park. The factories output household items such as mattresses, furniture, refrigerators and other electric appliances, all manufactured locally.

In his speech, President Mahama praised the perseverance and achievements of Chairman Zheng. It has been 15 years in the making and Mr Zheng worked with politicians from all parties who came to power, be it the National Democratic Congress or the New Patriotic Party.

“So, he’s implementing our Affirmative Action Act even much better than the government is doing. So, I thank you very much, and I applaud you. We went to the various factories, and I saw a lot of young women, some of them single mothers, some of them just out of school. They get one month’s training, and then they are put on the job. And you could see the joy in their faces that they’ve been able to get a job with which they can fend for themselves.”

The Bright Industrial Park currently employs more than 10,000 people, mostly Ghanaians. What is more interesting is that more than half of the workforce is female. The amusement park and mall will experiment on extended hours depending on business in line with the government’s drive to push for the 24-Hour Economy Program.
