Togo Plans Digitalization of TVET with the Support of UNESCO
On 25 July 2024, the Togolese Ministry of Technical Education officially launched the process for the #digitalization of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (#TVET) during a workshop which laid out the strategic plan of the government in this area.
To that effect, a Report was commissioned which took some six months to take shape. It required data collection, assessment of the situation, before proposing a way forward. The Report highlighted that access and acquisition of digital tools are becoming essential for today’s workforce.
To accompany it on its journey towards digitalization, Togo will benefit from the technical and financial support of UNESCO, the Institute of the Francophonie, the African Institute for Economic Development and Planning, the African Development Bank (AfDB), amongst others.
Today, it is imperative to be able to use a computer and master basic applications. In addition, with the advent of #AI, the pace of change is accelerating, thus presenting new challenges and opportunities for the workforce.
It is worth recalling that the #Digitalization of #TVET program was a joint initiative of UNESCO and AU which was initiated back in March 2021. In March 2023, Mali also availed itself of the Program as part of its capacity building in order for its people to be better prepared for the modern world.
