Angola’s Delegation Visits Hunan to Explore Partnerships

From 20 to 22 April 2026, a delegation of businesspeople from Angola visited Hunan. The Angolan delegation was led by Antonio Adriano, Director of the Governor’s Office of Luanda Province. With the assistance of the Department of Commerce of Hunan, they visited several enterprises.

Firstly, the Angolan Delegation had a working session with Mr LIU Suming, Deputy Director of the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province. Several Chinese organizations having an interest in Angola also took part in the meeting. They then visited the Hunan Construction Company to discuss infrastructure projects.

At MinMetals CESR, they visited the factory and exchanged on a potential partnership in the mineral value chain. CESR is a subsidiary of Chinese mining giant MinMetals, and specializes in the manufacturing of Energy Storage Systems (#ESS). Other than hydrocarbons, Angola is endowed with rich mineral resources, including #CriticalMinerals such as #lithium, #manganese, #cobalt, #copper and #RareEarths such as Neodymium (#Nd) and Praseodymium (#Pr).

This visit follows the meeting between Foreign Minister Tete Antonio with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on the sidelines of the 4th China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo held in Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province, in June 2025. Over the past few years, Angola has been trying hard to diversify its economy from the oil and gas sector.
