Key Takeaways from 43rd SADC Summit
The 43rd #SADC Summit took place in Luanda on 17 August 2023. The theme of this edition is “Human and Financial Capital: The Key Drivers for Sustainable Industrialization in the SADC Region.”
During the Summit, a review and update on the #SADC Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (#RISDP) 2020-2023 was on the agenda. The Summit also endorsed a Regional Gas Master Plan (#RGMP) 2023-2038.
Local Value Addition (#LVA) via agro-processing and mineral beneficiation is the way forward for the REC which is particular well-endowed in terms of mineral and agricultural resources. By paying attention to the carbon footprint and leveraging climate-friendly financing, SADC can move closer towards the Sustainable Development Goals (#SDG).
Actually, SADC firm believes that “African challenges are best addressed with African solutions.” To achieve Sustainable Industrialization, Peace and Stability would be prerequisites in the country in question. SADC expressed concerned about instability and uncertainty in DR Congo, Mozambique and Eswatini.
