Key Outcomes of 17th US-Africa Business Summit 2025

On 30 June 2025, the US Department of State issued a Fact Sheet to summarize the deals and commitments attained as a result of the 17th US-Africa Business Summit (#UABS). The announcement comes as the USA prioritizes Commercial Diplomacy and will assess US ambassadors mainly on the amount of deals they bring to US firms.

The 17th US-Africa Business Summit (#UABS2025) took place in Luanda from 22 to 25 June 2025. The Summit was co-organized by the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) and the Government of Angola. Twelve African heads of state or government and a high-level US delegation led by Ambassador Troy Fitrell, Senior Bureau Official for African Affairs, attended the event.

Major Deals and Commitments at 17th US-Africa Business Summit 2025

Altogether, some 2,700 delegates congregated in Luanda for the Summit, setting a new record for the history of the Summit. Troy Fitrell was accompanied by Senior Advisor for Africa Massad Boulos, Acting Director of USTDA Thomas Hardy, Assistant USTR Constance Hamilton, Head of Investments at US DFC Connor Coleman, and Senior VP for SME at US EXIM Bank Tamara Maxwell.

On the African side, the government leaders included Presidents Joao Lourenco (Angola), Duma Boko (Botswana), Felix Tshisekedi (DRC), Teodoro Mbasogo (Equatorial Guinea), Brice Nguema (Gabon), John Mahama (Ghana), Nedtumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah (Namibia), and Hakainde Hichilema (Zambia), as well as Prime Ministers Nadir Larbaoui (Algeria) and Sam Matekane (Lesotho). Tanzania VP Philip Mpango was also in attendance as well as several ministers from various African countries.
