Zimbabwe and South Africa have agreed in principle to a new power supply arrangement under the South Africa Power Pool (#SAPP). Currently, Zimbabwe buys electricity from South Africa through an accord between the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) and South Africa’s Eskom. The modalities will be hashed out when a delegation led by the Zimbabwe’s Minster of Energy will arrive in South Africa to finalize the terms and formalize the agreement.
Both Presidents addressed the business community of both countries during the South Africa – Zimbabwe Business Forum at the Gallagher Convention Center in Midrand. In 2025, South Africa exported USD 4.3 billion of goods to Zimbabwe. To streamline trade flows, the Beitbridge One-Stop Border Post will be upgraded.
