US House of Representatives Votes to Extend AGOA
On 1 September 2026, the US House of Representatives voted by 370 yeas and 48 nays to extend the Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (#AGOA). All that remains is for President Trump to sign the bill into law to make it effective, as the Senate already passed it.

Following congressional approval of the AGOA Extension Act, the US-Africa Business Summit 2026 (#UABS2026), to be held in Mauritius in December 2026, will provide an opportune forum to further talks in a bid to bolster trade and investment between Africa and the USA.

Around the same time, the US Department of State Assistant Secretary Garcia is undertaking a multi-country tour of Africa to drum up support for a closer US-Africa partnership.
