Microsoft CEO Nadella Details How AI Will Transform Our Lives at Davos
Just as Microsoft Office changed the way the world works, AI will transform our lives. Or so claims Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella during a conversation with Klaus Schwab focused on the #DigitalEconomy at the World Economic Forum (#WEF2023) in Davos.
In particular, Microsoft plans to integrate #AI technologies into most of its products to enhance the human-machine interface and further boost productivity. Already #ChatGPT can generate fluid conversations which is difficult to distinguish from those originating from humans.
By combining AI and metaverse technologies, we can revolutionize the learning and collaboration experiences by transcending constraints of time and space through a virtual space where we can interact with an AI copilot to help us navigate along the journey.
To illustrate how AI will make technology even more accessible, CEO Nadella talked about the case of an illiterate farmer in India. Imagine a remote village in India where a farmer is looking to access a particular government program that he has heard of. He does not know how to write but can speak his request using his local language through a mobile app. The AI bot will translate into the main official language, make the query and respond in the local language. The farmer can request the ChatGPT to fill up the form on his behalf and voilà!
“We need something that truly changes the productivity curve so we can have real economic growth … The best way to prepare for it is not to bet against this technology, and this technology helping you in your job and your business process.”

OpenAI developed ChatGPT as an open AI platform and Microsoft intends to license it to partners in a bid to build an ecosystem around this core technology. Mr Nadella revealed that Microsoft is in ‘advanced talks’ with OpenAI with a view to invest more in the company. Some analysts value OpenAI at nearly USD 30 billion.
ChatGPT has already been used to write essays, write computer programs, compose songs and perform other tasks believed to be beyond reach of machines only a few years ago.
