China and AU Hold Dialogue on PIDA
On 25 November 2022, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the African Union (AU) jointly hosted a roundtable discussion around the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Arica (PIDA), with a focus on East Africa for this session.
In addition to traditional infrastructure projects such as roads, railways and ports, the Chinese FM Regional Director for Africa WU Peng proposed to explore partnerships in new areas such as #SmartCity and #DigitalTransformation.
On the other hand, the AU Chief Representative in China Rahamtalla Osman highlighted the need to promote #SDG as Africa develops rapidly and resolutely steps onto an industrialization pathway in line with #Agenda2063.
The roundtable took place in hybrid mode and was attended by Ambassadors and Economic Counsellors of several East African countries in Beijing. In addition, Chinese companies already working or wishing to enter the African market also participated in the session.
