Hikma Pharma Invests $10M for New Facility in Tunisia

On 11 January 2023, Jordanian pharmaceutical company Hikma Pharma publicized its plan to invest USD 10 million (30 million dinars) in a new manufacturing facility in Sidi Thabet in northern Tunisia.

Recently, Hikma pharma, represented by its CEO Ahmed Al-Najjar, CFO Mohamed Samara and Project Manager Moine Zaafarane, had a meeting with the Tunisian Minister of Economy and Planning Samir Saied to discuss modalities of the project.

Hikma has been operating in Tunisia for 30 years and has three manufacturing facilities that employs about 250 people. Two-thirds of the employees are university graduates earning high wages.

Tunisia is positioning itself as the pharmaceutical gateway to the African market. Currently, Hikma produces more than 70 types of drugs, mostly generics, both for the local and export markets in Africa and the Middle-East.

CEO Al-Najjar pointed out that the facility will adopt the latest technology in line with the best international practices. The new facility is projected to open before the end of 2023.
