Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) 2025 Reports $44B in Deals
The Intra-African Trade Fair 2025 (#IATF2025) took place in Algiers from 4 to 10 September 2025. The Fair aims it to promote intra-Africa trade and the integration of the various Regional Economic Communities (#REC) under the larger umbrella of the #AfCFTA. It is organized by the Afreximbank, in collaboration with the AU and AfCFTA Secretariat.
The Fair reportedly facilitated trade and investment deals to the tune of USD 44 billion. More specifically, intra-African trade volume rose to USD 220 billion in 2024, up 12.4% from 2023.
In terms of investment, some deals made headlines. El-Sewedy plans to invest USD 2.5 billion for ten factories in Algeria. Tafadis Sugar Refinery signed an agreement to export 360,000 tonnes of refined sugar to Libya worth about USD 180 million. Condor sealed several multi-year contracts estimated at USD 80 million annually to supply electric appliances to Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Libya, Mauritania, Senegal and Tunisia.
As the host country for this edition of #IATF, Algeria showcased its advantages in terms of strategic location to act as a bridge between North Africa and Europe across the Mediterranean Sea. In particular, Algeria has put forward a pipeline connecting West Africa to Europe, which is in competition to a similar one proposed by Morocco.

“#IATF2025 is not merely an economic and commercial space, but a platform for intercultural encounters and an opportunity to give substance to communication and interaction between African peoples with a shared history … It embodies the principle espoused by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to promote African solutions to African problems.”
Algerian Minister of Communication Mohamed Meziane
The #IATF2025 also fostered other key and emerging sectors. Among the cross-cutting issues, the #IATF showcased African youth entrepreneurship and innovative startups. Other emerging sectors such as creative and automotive saw great traction as a result of the Fair.
As the premier event to promote the AfCFTA, the Fair is expected to build upon the momentum in the future. The next edition of the IATF is scheduled for 2027 and will be held in Lagos, Nigeria.
