Angola Oil & Gas Conference 2025 Registers Record Delegates and Deals
The Angola Oil & Gas Conference 2025 (#AOG2025) took place in Luanda from 3 to 4 September 2025. For this 6th edition, a record number of delegates and exhibitors participated in the Conference, with 78 exhibitors, 450 organizations, and more than 2,500 attendees from 40 countries. The 6th edition also coincided with the 50th independence anniversary and the theme of the Conference was “Angola at 50: Oil & Gas as a Development Factor.’
Several blocks in the Kwanza and Benguela basins were put up for auction during #AOG2025. Of all the deals, it is worth noting that Chevron signed a preliminary risk services contract with ANPG to explore offshore block 33/24.
“The oil sector has been instrumental for the growth of our country. Exploration and production of natural resources has contributed to the improvement of the living conditions of the people of Angola. Angola provides investment conditions that ensure contract, stability, legal certainty and investment durability.”
Angola President Joao Lourenco
The largest deal announced was the one from Azule Energy — a JV between BP and ENI — for an #FDI injection of USD 5 billion over the next five years. The investment will go toward drilling 18 wells and to bump up production by 1 million barrels per day. In terms of natural gas, Angola is also pushing to have at least 25% its energy mix from gas and to boost its export of #LNG.
At the opening ceremony, Angolan President Joao Laurenco underscored the Government’s commitment to foster a business-friendly environment for investment. Currently, Angola has a investment pipeline with a cumulative figure of more than USD 60 billion. At the closing ceremony, Minister Diamantino Azevedo set the goal for Angola to reach 2 million barrels per day (bpd), double from the current 1 million bpd.
