Google Unveils Ananta, its New Campus in Bengaluru
On 19 February 2025, Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) officially opened its largest campus in India which can accommodate over 5,000 workers. The facility is strategically located in Bengaluru, also known as the Silicon Valley of India. The facility is named Ananta which means ‘infinite’, underlying the limitless possibilities to be unleased with this state-of-the-art center built based on sustainability and focused on #AI.
As a #GreenBuilding, Ananta incorporates wastewater recycling and rainwater harvesting. The facades utilize smart photochromic glass which changes color with the intensity of the sun to reduce the power consumption required for internal environment control. As far as possible, Google made it a point to source most of the building materials locally.
“Ananta will be known not just for the innovations that emerge from within its walls—powered by India but for the world—but also for its lasting impact. Six years ago, we made a pivotal shift, embracing an AI-first approach. We recognised India’s potential not only as a deep talent pool but also as a place where AI can transform lives at scale. This new campus marks a milestone in the ongoing seismic shift in technology. It is a testament to our ambition to innovate and drive the next transformative leap in AI.”

Each floor of Ananta is arranged like a city grid, with a network of streets for ease of connection. Each area or ‘neighborhood’ provides individual freedom and fosters collaboration at the same time. The Sabha is an ultra-wide staircase with stadium-style seating sits right at the heart of the building and is purposely designed as a space of convergence to spark creative conversations.
The surrounding grounds are generous with greenery with health tracks for walking or jogging. The garden has many quiet corners for casual meetings or peaceful breaks for a quick recharge. The building also boasts an indoor forest called Aranya which provides a sanctuary for employees irrespective of the outdoor weather.
The Google India campus will not only develop digital solutions for the domestic market, but also ambitions to deliver solutions for global challenges which require solving complex challenges.
“India provides a remarkable environment for addressing complex challenges, and solving problems for Indian users often translates to solutions for global users. Ananta, now one of Google’s largest offices worldwide, stands as proof of this belief in innovation and our commitment to building India’s digital future. It represents a milestone for all those contributing to shaping this future.”
