Mauritius Hosts 3rd Annual Meeting of Africa Sovereign Investors Forum
The Mauritius Investment Corporation (MIC) played host for the 3rd annual meeting of the Africa Sovereign Investors Forum (#ASIF2024) at the InterContinental Beach Resort Hotel in Balaclava from 10 to 11 June 2024. The theme for this edition was: “Sustainable Development: Navigating Transitions, Catalyzing Opportunities and Driving Impact.”
“The aim of ASIF is to crat a platform to enhance the attractivity of Africa for international investors based on the comparative advantages of each economy, while leveraging the potentialities of the emerging continent.”

Mr Obaid Amrane, Chair ASIF, Mr Mark Florman and Jitendra Bissessur, respectively Chair and CEO of MIC, delivered keynote addresses during the opening session. In addition, Mr Harvesh Seegolam, Governor of the Central Bank of Mauritius, highlighted the key role Sovereign Wealth Funds (#SWF), and investment in general, in driving the Sustainable Development Goals (#SDG) agenda.
During the two-day meeting, several timely and pertinent discussion panels took place around topics such as:
- Leveraging Capital Markets for Strategic Growth
- Powering Development: #Decarbonizaton and #EnergyTranstion
- Seed and Stake: Sovereign Funds Impact in Domestic Markets
In addition, the #ClimateFinance and #FoodSecurity Working Groups met and presented their progress and plan.
Several countries formally joined the #ASIF during this 3rd Annual Meeting as more and more African countries plan to leverage their sovereign funds as a powerful tool for wealth creation and sustainable growth. Thus, Botswana Pula Fund, Special Fund of Guinea and the Libyan Investment Authority formalized their adhesion to #ASIF.
