Uganda Airlines Orders 10 Boeing Jets

On 10 June 2026, Uganda Airlines signed a purchasing agreement with Boeing to acquire 10 new jet planes. Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni witnessed the signing at the State House in Entebbe. This represents a major breakthrough for Boeing as Uganda Airlines previously relied most on Airbus and Bombardier planes.

The order consists of four Boeing 787-9, four Boeing 737 MAX 8s, one Boeing 767 long-range freighter, and one Boeing 737 BCF regional freighter. Altogether, the deal is estimated to be around USD 985 million (USH 3.7T). Uganda Airlines is coming up with USD 122 million (USH 460M) as a down payment.

“The fleet expansion, which includes passenger and cargo aircraft, will strengthen trade, tourism, ‌and investment, and position Uganda as a key regional aviation hub.”

The procurement of cargo planes will enable Uganda to boost the export of time-sensitive products such as flowers, fish, coffee and pharmaceuticals. The expansion of the fleet of Ugandan Airlines will enable it to offer more connections to other hubs such as Addis Ababa, Nairobi and Kigali.

As part of the deal, Boeing will provide training and technical support. No delivery schedule was publicized at this stage. Recently, Boeing booked orders from Ethiopian Airlines and Kenya Airways in the same region.
